the true story of the Alpinists Joe Simpson e Simon Yates

Free admission with reservation on EVENTBRITE o email: illagocromatico@gmail.com

The incredible true story of mountaineers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates. It is the story of an ambitious dream, theirs: be the first in the world to climb Siula Grande, attacked from the west wall.

But it is also the story of a friendship, and of the rope that, during that terrible undertaking, bind these two young guys. The rope that puts the life of one in the hands of the other. As always happens in the mountains.

There is therefore a peak to reach.

There is the grueling conquest of the summit.

There is the joy of a successful enterprise.

And finally, when the worst is over, and the road is now downhill, there is life, that trips and there is death, that winks: a terrible accident at high altitudes. Joe breaks his leg during a trivial maneuver.

Since then, everything changes. The challenge becomes being able to come back alive: a 5.800 meters, the slightest fracture can turn into a death sentence, the two boys are aware of it, but despite the desperate conditions they attempt a rescue operation.

Everything seems to work until, just when the difficulties seem to have been overcome, there is another unforeseen event, this time fatal: and then there is the gesture, that gesture that no mountaineer would ever want to be obliged to do: Simon is forced to cut the rope that binds him to his partner. A gesture that separates their united fortunes. Che no (s)binds destinies forever.

That extreme act though, in this case miraculous, it will save both of your lives: both, they will be able to return to base camp alive. And to find himself unexpectedly there later 4 days.

It is the story of a miracle. Of an adventure beyond human limits

And it is at the same time a metaphor: relationships, all, and ties. The mountain becomes the metaphor of the moment in which the relationship is taken to the extreme limit, in which the truth takes shape, cornering you and forcing you to "cut", to make that gesture that always appears to us so violent and terrible, but what instead, sometimes, it is the only gesture necessary for the life of both.
